Ladies Dive trip has been revived!!!

Last year Pro Dive offered all Ladies Dive trips…well I really liked diving with the ladies so its back! We went out on Wednesday evening (August 4th) for a 1 tank dive of the Bob Diver. We went to a 60 ft reef called Hammerhead and did a nice 40 minute drift dive. And boy was it a drift! The current pushed us pretty far which was great cuase we covered a lot of territory. The vis was about 50 ft, and I used my slate to count the numbers of lion fish and lobsters while on this dive: 4 lion fish and 10 large lobsters!

Now my favorite part about the ladies dives is not just diving with the girls or the chocolate chip cookies I make or the girly music we play….no its that the boys onboard dress in drag….and guess what they like it!!! Check out the photos!!!

FYI Next month we are letting the guys join us on our dive…we are calling it Ladies Night, ladies get half off on the charter price and they get to get into the water first! We are going to be doing the 5 Wreck trek Drift….so Guys catch us if you can!!!

Pirate Day at Pro Dive

On Saturday July 31, 2010 Pro Dive hosted Pirate Day!!! It was so much fun, all the staff really got into character. Especially Matt, he walked around all day yelling pirate slang. He even brought a clown mask to scare Wedge, Wedge hates clowns! Before the night dive we cooked up some hot dogs and had a raffle. Ocean Bound donated t-shirts and tank wraps to give away, they were super cool (click on the link in this sentence to check out the photos from their website). Plus they made yummy cakes for us! Ocean Bound has some awesome dive wear and tank wraps. We are slowly starting to carry their products. I worked in retail all day with Marissa, and customers that came in kept asking us if this was our actual uniform! Funny, but no. After I closed the shop I was able to go out on the night dive for some fun diving with my cousin Lauren and roommate Sam! Boat crew made me dive in my Pirate costume, so that was a sight…to bad I didn’t get any photos of that! Enjoy the photos!

Tiger Beach 2010

There’s a beach in the Bahamas that’s unlike any other in the world. It’s located 20 miles off the coast of West End, Grand Bahama, and buried like sunken treasure under crystal clear blue water. Divers from around the world go there in search of sharks….lemon sharks, reef sharks, hammerheads, and most of all Tiger Sharks! One of the most famous sharks in the world lives here at Tiger Beach. Her name is Emma, and she is 14 feet long. She is known as a “supermodel”, this means she likes to come in close to pose for the cameras, Emma could possibly be the most photographed wild animal on this planet. Tiger Sharks are very powerful creatures but if you respect them and their space they will not be the ferocious like we all think thanks to the Jaws Hollywood movies. They are truely beautiful creatures and once you get over that 10 mins of fear within the dive you learn to relax and thats when you get the best encounter and the best shots with your camera. If you’re interested in going to meet Emma please go see my friends at Jim Abernethy’s Scuba Adventures, they will take you to an experience of a life time! This was by far once of my eye opening diving experience!

July 4th at Pro Dive

So I got to work the day with my honey and have some fun out on the new boat we are leasing for the summer, the Scuba Bob. July 4th was a long day but I was rewarded with teaching a couple who stopped diving 5 yrs ago to have kids and are now back diving, taught Reef Check divers in the morning, and had a great time on the night boat watching the fireworks! So all in all it was a good 4th!

Mr Ordway in Florida

My Dad came into town as well in 2010…he got a house down in Marathon which is above Key West. Matt and I went down to join in the fishing and diving activities that were planned…BUT no diving. The conditions were too windy, not to mention cold! But we did get to visit with my Eastern Ordway clan. Got to take them to Mallory Square at sunset to see all the street performers and grab some dinner. Next day we went out fishing and caught yellow tail snappers…Matt dared Garrett to eat the eye ball but he chickened-out. Mr. Ordway bent the anchor so back at the dock the heavy guys tried fixing it by standing on it…nice try fellas! Overall, it was a pretty funny trip…it was fun to hang out with goofy kids. Garrett started dipping cheetos into the ocean water with this toes and eating them!!! Crazy kid!

The sister and the momma come for a visit…

So it was a weekend of Ordway women!!!! Danielle and James came out to visit first…while in town James got certifed to dive, they went to the Bahamas on a cruise, and got to meet my Florida family the Steidleys. When the weekend hit Tina came to town and my cousin Lauren came up to go diving with all the Ordway women! It was awesome! While in Florida we went diving on the RSB-1 and we went to the Sawgrass Recrational Park for an airboat ride and soe gator wrestling. After Dani and James left I took my mom up too Disney World for Valentine’s Day…it was nice…Magic Kingdom at night and Epcot the next morning. My buddy Chad took us behind the scenes at the Living Seas Aquarium, and took us around the “world” well Epcot’s World. What fun it was to be a kid again!

Nikole’s Update of 2010

So I kinda forgot all about my blog, and I am sorry to you all that enjoyed the stories and the post about ocean conservation. A lot has been going on so far in 2010! I moved in with Matt, went to Vegas for Kelli’s Bacholerette party, Lemon Shark fishing is banned in Florida, and I went to the Galapagos Islands for a dive live-aboard trip. It’s all been AMAZING!

So I got to take Matt home with me to San Diego for a couple of days to meet my family and friends and show him around. We went fishing for tuna and Mahi one day (we saw a hug hammerhead shark from the boat!) and surfing the next…bonus, my family proves of him so I guess he’s stuck with me

Freediving with Scooters

So I am obsessed with freediving now after taking my class with PFI, so Ted, Erin, and Charles decided to introduce me to freediving with underwater scooters!!! And boy are the fast!!! It was awkard at first but I started to get the hang of it and dove down to the wreck of the Tracy and did some tantum diving with Charles…I held on and took video of the dive…it was awesome!!!

So if you liked my old place you will like my new house. Its almost as big and I got a great deal. However, instead of pool in my yard I have my own boat dock!!! And I get to use it!!! So anybody out there that wants to buy me a boat I will except.

And yes my roommate’s name is Roach, no I do not live with roaches…hee hee.
